Young Women as Peer Mediators and Understanding the Skills and Capacities Needed for Effective Peer Mediation

The present study provides the dynamics of peer mediation programs, with particular emphasis on participants' prior experience and comfort levels with conflict resolution. Utilizing quantitative analysis, the research emphasizing participation patterns, preferred conflict resolution methods, and perceptions regarding the effectiveness of peer mediation. The study further analyzes perceptions of peer mediation's efficacy, revealing an optimistic outlook among participants, although skepticism persists. This paper advances the understanding of peer mediation's influence on conflict resolution, underscoring the importance of gender-inclusive approaches and the necessity for targeted training to improve effectiveness and engagement. Future research directions are outlined, emphasizing the exploration of mediation outcomes and the long-term impacts on participants and their communities.
